Welcome Home!

Alright folks, welcome to my page, HOME CONFIDENTIAL!

Who wants clutter? Who wants mess? Ohh, this is too negative. Erase! Rephrase!

Who wants a comfortable home? Who wants to linger and watch a movie in a cozy living room? Who wants to relax, sip a cup of coffee and read books in a well organized library? Who wants to sleep in a very clean and fresh mattress? Who wants to prepare the most delectable food in the kitchen?

Our house does not need to be big and grand to attain comfort. There are big dirty cluttered house. And there are small clean and comfortable house. I'd rather be in a small house where I can breath fresh air.

I created this blog because I want to share to you my knowledge in taking care of everything inside the house to live comfortably.

I categorize each post according to rooms:

Organize and Store Your Favorite Recipes

You know I really want to thank my mother for teaching me all these things. Mama is really an organizer freak! She taught me how to catalogue documents. It started with our personal documents such as birth certificate, school cards, awards, legal letters and other certifications. My siblings and I each own a clearbook where we all keep these very important documents. This way, it made it easy for us to locate a document especially when it is required for whatsoever applications. I keep this organizing scheme in mind so before my kids are born, they already own a clearbook, a portfolio containing ultrasound results, prenatal check up results, hospital certificates. I even taped their hospital wrist badge and umbilical cord there.

I did the same thing with my favorite recipes. We know there are magazines that feature our favorite recipes. As tempted, I rip it out from the magazine until my drawer ends like a garbage collector. Not to mention those that I printed from the internet, handwritten from a friend, and jotted down from a cooking show. They can really accumulate. So I start grouping the recipes together according to main ingredient, pork, beef, poultry, seafood, pasta, fruits and vegetables. Then I just slip them into a clearbook. Clearbooks are readily available in office or educational supply store. Voila, neat and clean.

In this manner, I can always keep my loose recipes protected from food spills. In addition, I also color coded my clearbooks. So everytime, I want to cook something, I can always remember where to locate a certain recipe.

Kitchen is where My Heart Is

The Filipinos are naturally born food lovers. We love to serve our best recipe on the table to our friends. We are simply hospitable and so generous with our favorite food. We eat three meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus two more meriendas (snack): in between, that is 10:30am and 3:00pm. Hmm, not to mention, midnight snacks. Can I even include that? Thus, I can say that it is food that keeps us together.

Filipinos love to cook and we love to make it perfect for our loved ones. The fiestas can prove that. This particular love for food makes me love the kitchen so dearly! The kitchen is where we prepare our food. For me, it is the center of family activities. It is the busiest part of the house. Somewhere all folks gather and share recipes, cook together, clean together, talk, laugh, eat and drink. Thus, with conviction, I will say that the kitchen is the most important room in the house.

Needless to say, the kitchen is where more homekeeping concerns are focused. Since it is a work place, we don't ran out of things to do in the kitchen all day long. We clean, we cook, we eat, then we clean again. That is a routine.

My parents are good cook themselves. But unlike my mom, Papa is more of a cook than a homemaker. He loves to cook but didn't like cleaning. Aw, men! So, I enjoy watching mom clean up the mess helping her with my tiny hands when I was still little. I am always fascinated with the things around this space. So growing up means, loving more every activity there, may it be eating or plainly washing the dishes.

In this blog, I'll be posting more things about organizing, renovating and keeping our kitchen clean to make it last a lifetime.
